David Johnson is a Republican member of the Iowa State Senate, representing District 1. He was first elected to the chamber in 2002. He previously served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002.

Johnson serves as State Senate Assistant Minority Leader.


Johnson earned his B.A. in History from Beloit College in 1973. His professional experience includes working as newspaper publisher/editor and a dairy farmer.
