David McDonough is a Republican member of the New York State Assembly. He has represented District 19 since 2009. McDonough's other political experiences include president of Merrick Chamber of Commerce and past president of Nassau County Council of Chambers of Commerce.

McDonough's professional experience includes the United States Air Force and the United States Coast Guard.

McDonough earned a BA in economics from Columbia University. He and his wife, Carolyn, have three children; David Jr., Susan, and Scott.[1]

McDonough ran unopposed in the September 14 Republican primary. He defeated John Brooks (D) in the general election on November 2.[2] In addition to his slot on the Republican Party ticket, he was also listed as a candidate of the Independence Party of New York State, the Conservative Party, and the Tax Revolt party.
