David Nelson (b. August 6, 1941) is a former Republican member of the Oregon State Senate. Nelson served as a County Attorney for Pondera County, Montana, from 1971 to 1975. Nelson joined the Oregon State Senate in 1996 and served until his retirement in 2013. He served as Senate Majority Leader in 2001.

Nelson has worked as a wheat farmer. He is currently an attorney.

Nelson attended the University of California at Berkeley. He then earned his BA in Political Science from the University of Oregon in 1964. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Montana in 1967.
