David Pethtel (b. January 28, 1951) is a Democratic member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 5. He was first elected to the chamber in 1998.

Pethtel had served in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1988 to 1994 and again from 1998 to the present. He served as an Assistant Majority Whip from 2004 to 2006 and again from 2008 to the present.

Biography

Pethtel earned his AB from Glenville State College in 1973. He went on to receive his MA from West Virginia University in 1977. Pethtel has been an Educator for the Wetzel County Board of Education since 1973.[1]

Pethtel won re-election in the 2012 election for West Virginia House of Delegates, District 5. Pethtel ran unopposed in the May 8 primary election and defeated Raymond V. Davis, III (Mountain) and Denzil W. Sloan (C) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4]

Pethtel was re-elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates District 5 in the November 2, 2010 general election. He defeated Democrat Ronald L. Anderson in the May 11 primary. He was unopposed in the November 2, 2010 general election.[5][6][7][8]

In 2008 Pethtel was re-elected to the West Virginia House District 5. Pethtel (D) finished with 5,025 votes while his opponent Denzil Sloan (C) -Constitution Party- finished with 917 votes.[9] Pethtel raised $32,488 for his campaign fund.[10]
