David Pethtel (b. January 28, 1951) is a Democratic member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 5. He was first elected to the chamber in 1998.

Pethtel had served in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1988 to 1994 and again from 1998 to the present. He served as an Assistant Majority Whip from 2004 to 2006 and again from 2008 to the present.

Biography

Pethtel earned his AB from Glenville State College in 1973. He went on to receive his MA from West Virginia University in 1977. Pethtel has been an Educator for the Wetzel County Board of Education since 1973.[1]

Elections for the office of West Virginia House of Delegates took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 13, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 25, 2014. Incumbent David Pethtel was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Mary Kay Milliken was unopposed in the Republican primary. Pethtel defeated Milliken in the general election.[2]

Pethtel won re-election in the 2012 election for West Virginia House of Delegates, District 5. Pethtel ran unopposed in the May 8 primary election and defeated Raymond V. Davis, III (Mountain) and Denzil W. Sloan (C) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[3][4][5]
