Pethtel earned his AB from Glenville State College in 1973. He went on to receive his MA from West Virginia University in 1977. Pethtel has been an Educator for the Wetzel County Board of Education since 1973.[1]

Pethtel is running for re-election in the 2012 election for West Virginia House of Delegates, District 5. Pethtel ran unopposed in the May 8 primary election and is challenged by Raymond V. Davis, III in the general election which takes place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
2010
Pethtel was re-elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates District 5 in the November 2, 2010 general election. He defeated Democrat Ronald L. Anderson in the May 11 primary. He was unopposed in the November 2, 2010 general election. [4][5][6][7]
