Deanna Demuzio is a Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate. DeMuzio was appointed by Governor Rod Blagojevich in 2004 to the Illinois Senate. Demuzio was re-elected in November of 2006 with her term expiring in 2010.

DeMuzio is a former Education Curriculum Planner and Small Business Owner.

Demuzio is running for re-election to the 49th District Seat in the Illinois State Senate against Republican Sam McCann. The election takes place on November 2, 2010. Demuzio ran unopposed in the Democratic primary election on February 2nd.[2]

According to political experts, Demuzio is in a Senate race that that is considered to be one of the most expensive out of all races contested in 2010[3].


On November 7, 2006, Democrat Deanna Demuzio won re-election to the Illinois State Senate District 49 receiving 43,324 votes, ahead of Republican Jeff Richey 29,223 votes.[4]
