Debra Plowman is a Republican member of the Maine State Senate. Plowman has served in the Maine Senate since 2004, and currently serves as State Senate Assistant Majority Leader. Before her time as Senator, Plowman served in the Maine House of Representatives from 1992 to 2000. Plowman is a 2012 Republican candidate seeking election to the U.S. Senate from Maine.


Plowman attended the University of Southern Maine, graduating with a Political Science degree.

Plowman is running in the 2012 election for the U.S. Senate, representing Maine. Plowman is seeking the nomination on the Republican ticket.[2] She will face Scott D'Amboise, Richard Bennett, Charles Summers, Bruce Poliquin, and William Schneider in the June 5 Republican primary. The Democratic primary is between Benjamin Pollard, Matthew Dunlap, Cynthia Dill, and Jon Hinck. Third party candidates are Andrew Ian Dodge, Aaron Marston, and Angus King.

Plowman won re-election to the 33rd District Seat in 2010. She had no primary opposition. Sherman Leighton ran for the seat on the Democratic ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[3]
