Cohoon is a Special Education Teacher at Burlington Community High School, and has served in the United States Army National Guard.
He is a member of the Burlington Education Association, Des Moines County District Central Committee, Geode Education Association, Iowa State Education Association, and the Oak Street Baptist Church.
