Derek Maksy was a Republican candidate for the Twelfth Bristol District, Massachusetts House of Representatives in the September 20, 2011 special election. Maksy was running to fill the vacancy created when Stephen Canessa (D) resigned to take a job as a legislative liaison for SouthCoast Health System.[1]

Maksy was also a Republican candidate for the First Bristol and Plymouth District in the Massachusetts State Senate in the November 2, 2010, state legislative elections.

Maksy was defeated in the August 23, 2011 special election primary. The special general election is scheduled for September 20, 2011.[1][2]

Maksy lost election to the Bristol and Plymouth District seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. He was defeated by the winner of the Democratic primary in the general election on November 2, 2010.
