Derrick Simmons is a candidate in the 2011 special election for District 12 of the Mississippi State Senate. The special election takes place on March 1, 2011. Simmons is running to fill the vacancy created when Johnnie Walls (D) was elected to the Circuit Court.

Simmons faces Dorothy Walls and Gwendolyn McClure in the March 1, 2011 special election.[1] In Mississippi, no party ID appears on the special election ballot. If no candidate receives a majority of votes, a run-off will be held March 22, 2011.[2]
