Dick Dearden (b. June 3, 1938) is a Democratic member of the Iowa Senate, representing District 34.

Education

Dearden received his diploma from Des Moines East High School in 1957.

Professional experience

Dearden was a Representative for Almalgated Meat Cutters. He has also worked as Supervisor for AMF Lawn and Garden. He served in the Iowa National Guard from 1956 to 1962. He has been a Job Developer for the 5th Judicial District since 1986.

Political experience

Dearden was Chair of the Polk County Democrats from 1980 to 1982. In 1996 he was a delegate at the Democratic National Convention. He has been on the Polk County Central Committee since 1972.
