Rivers is running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Washington's 7th District. He is running as a Democrat and will face incumbent Jim McDermott (D), Andrew Hughes (D), Charles Allen (D), Scott Sutherland (R), Ron Bemis (R), and Goodspaceguy (I) in the August 7 primary.^[1] The top two vote-getters, regardless of party, will go on the general election ballot.^[2]
