Donald Brown was a 2014 Democratic candidate seeking election to the U.S. House to represent the 14th Congressional District of Texas.[1]


A native Texan, Brown was born in Hermann Hospital in Houston in 1965. He spent his childhood living between his parent's households in Houston and Vidor, Texas.[2]

Following his graduation from Vidor High School,[3] Brown owned and operated several marketing firms. In 1989, he began working in the financial recovery industry eventually serving as a branch manager for the second largest privately held mortgage brokerage company in the United States. In 2011, he purchased a mortgage company which he continues to own and operate with his business partner.[2]

Brown listed the following themes on his campaign website:[4]

  • Education: "I propose we develop math and science academies where the students in middle school and high school attend the math and science academies to augment their knowledge of both math and science."
  • Gerrymandering: "The Center for Voting and Democracy has a plan I believe we should take serious consideration of."

Brown ran in the 2014 election for the U.S. House to represent Texas' 14th District. Brown defeated Buck Willis and Gagan Panjhazari to win the Democratic nomination in the primary on March 4, 2014.[5] He will face incumbent Randy Weber (R) in the general election on November 4, 2014.
