Marro ran in the 2011 election for Virginia Senate District 27. He was set to face incumbent Republican Jill Vogel and Democrat Shaun Broy in the November 8 general election before he decided to withdraw from the race.[2] Because Marro withdrew after the ballot was printed, he remained on the ticket, but not as an official candidate.[3]Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag
