Ed Thompson was a Republican candidate for District 31 of the Wisconsin State Senate. The primary election was on September 14, 2010 and the general election was on November 2.

Thompson ran unopposed in the September 14 primary. Thompson was defeated in the November 2 general election by Democrat incumbent Kathleen Vinehout. [1]

A recount request was filed with the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board on November 9, 2010[2]. The recount was final on December 1, 2010[3].
