Edward Ra is a Republican member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 19 since 2013. He previously represented District 21 from 2011 to 2013.

Ra has been a legal aide to the New York State Attorney General and the Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of Hempstead. He earned his B.A. in 2004 from Loyola College in Maryland, his J.D. in 2007 from St. John's University School of Law and his LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law in 2008 from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He lives in Franklin Square with his wife Laura.

Ra ran in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 19. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on September 13, 2012. He also ran on the Conservative Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets. He defeated Gary B. Port in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012. [1][2]

Ra was uncontested in the September 14 Republican primary. Ra defeated Patrick Nicolosi (D) and Mimi Pierre Johnson (D) in the general election on November 2.[3] In addition to his slot on the Republican Party ticket, Ra was also listed as a candidate of the Independence Party of New York State and the Conservative Party.
