- As of November 24, 2009, at least 15 political recall efforts have been launched for 2010 in at least 4 states.

- In 2009, at least 117 political recall efforts have been launched in at least 21 states.
- Through September 2009, at least sixteen known recall efforts culminated in either the resignation of an official prior to a recall vote, or with a vote to turn the official out of office.
- 29 recall campaigns failed to make the ballot or, if they did make the ballot, the officeholder retained his or her seat.
- A number of 2009's recall efforts faced significant legal obstacles on the way to a vote with challenges to signatures or to the language used on recall petitions.
- As of October 2009, about sixty recall campaigns are in the signature collection phase or have been scheduled for a public vote.
- 39 of this year's recall efforts were directed at members of city councils and, in some cases, at the entire membership of a city council.
- More than 20 recall efforts have been directed at members of school boards or, in several cases, multiple members of one school board.
