Elizabeth Hernandez (b. July 14, 1961) is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing District 24. She was first elected to the chamber in 2002. She has also served on the Cicero Board of Education since 1985.

Hernandez won re-election in the 2012 election for Illinois House of Representatives District 24. Hernandez defeated Neftalie Gonzalez and Robert Reyes in the March 20 Democratic primary and ran unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3]

The Illinois Opportunity Project, "an independent research and public policy enterprise that promotes legislative solutions in advance of free markets and free minds," annually releases its Legislative Vote Card, grading all members in both chambers of the Illinois General Assembly on the basis of their support of "pro-growth economic policies that increase personal freedom and reign in expansive government."[9][10]

Hernandez received a score of 25.00 out of 100 in 2012 for a grade of F according to the IOP’s grading scale. Her score was tied for the 97th highest among all 120 members of the Illinois House of Representatives included in the Vote Card.[10]

Hernandez served on the Pilsen/Little Village Mental Health Board from 2001-2002, Latinos of Berwyn/Cicero Organization Board from 1990-2002, and was Secretary of the Cicero/Berwyn Children's Center from 1985-2002.[11]
