Emmett Hanger

Emmett Hanger has been a Republican member of the Virginia Senate since 1996, representing the 24th district.

Hanger attended Ft. Defiance High School. Hanger received a B.S. in Management and Economics and an M.B.A. at James Madison University. He is a member of the Church of the Brethren.

In addition to serving as senator Hanger works in commercial real estate. Previously, Hanger served as a member of the House of Delegates from 1983-92 and a Captain in the Army/National Guard from 1972-83.

Hanger represents Virginia Senate District 24. Senate District 24 includes Albemarle County(part), Augusta County, Greene County, Highland County, Lexington, Rockbridge County(part), Rockingham County(part), Staunton, Waynesboro.

Personal

Hanger was born in Staunton, Virginia on August 2, 1948.
