Erich Ponti is a Republican member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He has represented the 69th District since 2008. He was a Republican candidate for District 2 of the Louisiana Public Service Commission in the 2012 elections.[1]

Ponti is a general contractor. He received his BS in Construction Management from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.[2]

Ponti ran for District 2 of the Louisiana Public Service Commission in 2012. He faced Scott Angelle (R), Erich Ponti (R), Sarah Holliday (R), Forest Wright (D), and Greg Gaubert (no party affiliation) in the blanket primary on November 6, 2012.[3] Angelle won the primary with more than the simply majority of the vote required to avoid a runoff.[4]

On October 22, 2011, Ponti won re-election to District 61 of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He ran unopposed in the October 22 primary election, assuring his re-election.


In 2007, Ponti was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives. He defeated Bill Benedetto.[5]
