This measure sought to increase the current road levy by a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a period of six years in order to further pay for police protection services in the county.road maintenance, repair and construction costs in the township.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the tax limitation on general ad valorem taxes within Eureka Charter Township, imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution, be raised for said Township by one-half (1/2) mill ($.50 per $1,000 of taxable value, example - a property with a taxable value of $50,000 would be taxed $25.00 annually for the millage) for the period of 2012 through 2017, inclusive, for road maintenance, repair, and construction; and shall raise the levy in millage for said purpose for an additional estimated $61,600.00 annually? (If millage is passed, it will replace the one-half (1/2) mill currently being levied for road maintenance, repair, and construction.)[3]
