Fawn Steiff recall, Newman Grove, Nebraska (2012)
A vote about whether to recall Fawn Steiff from her position as the mayor of Newman Grove, Nebraska took place on May 15, 2012.  Steiff was retained in office. The recall effort was launched in March 2012. 
Reasons for recall
Connie Johnson initiated the recall effort. She is the wife of David Johnson, who was defeated by Steiff in the 2010 mayoral election. The recall affidavit lists the following reasons for recall: “Complete lack of capable skills required to function in the office of mayor, no knowledge/understanding of city finance, undermining council decisions, disregard for ‘Robert's Rules of Order', spending without prior council approval, negligent in city and state policies, mandatory trainings, unbilled residents, discrepancies from meeting to meeting, and no strategic plan.” 
In response to the recall effort against her, Steiff has said, "the accusations of this petition range from misleading to completely untrue.” 
Path to the ballot
Johnson began circulating the recall petition on March 9th. Recall organizers had 30 days to gather the 91 signatures necessary to force a recall election.  Enough signatures were certified, and a recall election was scheduled for May 15, 2012.  Steiff retained her position as mayor.
