Alonso is a candidate for the 2011 Republican Party nomination for District 38 of the New Jersey General Assembly. Alonso faces Wojciech Siemaszkiewicz, Richard Goldberg, Joseph Gant and Scott Verrone in the June 7 primary. Gant and Verrone are bracketed together and Goldberg and Alonso are bracketed together. The top-two voter getters will advance to the general election on November 8, 2011.[1]

NJ Spotlight has identified the 38th as one of the most competitive districts in the state, with potential for the GOP to pickup a seat in the Assembly.[2]
