Florida state hub.jpg

Welcome to Florida on Ballotpedia!

Bordering the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, Georgia and Alabama, Florida is nicknamed "the Sunshine State." Although Florida's capital is Tallahassee, its largest city is Jacksonville and largest metropolitan area is Miami. Home to the longest coastline in the continental U.S., the state of Florida is consistently plagued by the threat of hurricanes.

The basic structure, duties, function and operations of the government of the state of Florida are defined and established by the Florida Constitution. Florida has two members of the U.S. Senate, a total of 27 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, 120 members of the Florida House of Representatives and 40 members of the Florida State Senate.
