Candidates wishing to run must file by the signature filing deadline of May 7, 2012. The primary elections will be held on August 14, 2012.
Florida's 12th congressional district encompasses much of Polk County as well as parts of rural and suburban east Hillsborough County and a small piece of western Osceola County.
Heading into the election the incumbent is Dennis A. Ross (R), who was first elected in 2010. Ross will run in the 15th district in 2012.
Note: The candidates listed below are not finalized until signature filing deadline on June 8. Until then, the district candidates are running in is subject to change because of the chaotic redistricting process in Florida this election season.

A little more than half of Gus Bilirakis' current district falls in the redrawn 12th district, which stretches from the western coast inland, north of Tampa.[3]
Bilirakis has no serious primary or general election challengers.[3]

2010
On November 2, 2010, Dennis A. Ross won election to the United States House of Representatives. He defeated Lori Edwards (D) and Randy Wilkinson (I) in the general election.[4]
