A teenager, Miranda Rosenberg, started the initiative because she believed that she was being taxed without representation. She collected signatures throughout the previous five years. She was associated with the democratic party.
Vote at 16 was the sponsor of the initiative. The group believed that because 16 and 17 year olds are taxed that they should be allowed to have a say in the future and be represented in congress.
