The Florida Election of County Commissioners Amendment, also known as Amendment 5, was a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment in Florida which was approved on the ballot on November 6, 1984.

This amendment modified Article VIII of the Florida Constitution to remove constitutional restrictions on the selection of county commissioners.[1]

The language that appeared on the ballot:

Provides that county commissioners shall be elected as provided by law, thereby removing the constitutional restriction that county commissioners must be elected at large by the electors of the county, and allows the board of county commissioners to be composed of either five or seven members.[2][3]
