Florida Amendment 6, also known as the Repeal of High Speed Rail Amendment, was on the November 2, 2004 election ballot in Florida as an initiated constitutional amendment, where it was approved.[1]

  • Yes: 4,519,423 (63.7%)Approved
  • No: 2,573,280 (36.3%)

This amendment repeals an amendment in the Florida Constitution that requires the Legislature, the Cabinet and the Governor to proceed with the development and operation of a high speed ground transportation system by the state and/or by a private entity.

Campaign spending

$2,173,780 was spent on the campaign--all of it from the "yes" side through a group called the Derail the Bullet Train PAC.

The major donors to this group were:

  • Universal City Development Partners, $320,640
  • Moving Florida, $277,000
  • Anheuser-Busch, $250,000
  • St. Joe Co., $50,000
  • Enterprise Rent-A-Car, $50,000
  • Lawrence DeGeorge, $50,000
