Nease earned his AA in Sociology from Mount Vernon Nazerene College in 1972. He went on to receive his BA in English Literature from Eastern Nazerene College in 1975. He later received his MA in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University in 1986.
Nease has worked as the Director of Internal Development for the Washington County Mental Health Services. He has also worked as an Executive Director for Laraway Youth and Family Services.
Nease and his wife, Lucinda Barnes, have two children.
