Fred Thomas (born June 27, 1958) is a Republican member of the Montana State Senate, representing District 45 since January 7, 2013.

Thomas is a former member of both the Montana State Senate and the Montana House of Representatives, serving for eight years in each, and as Senate majority leader for four years.

Thomas' professional experience includes working as a certified insurance counselor; he served one term as the president of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents. He is currently the branch manager of Western States Insurance Agency's locations in Hamilton and Stevensville.

Thomas earned his BS in business and finance from Montana State University in 1981.[1][2][3]

Thomas won election in the 2012 election for Montana State Senate, District 45. Thomas defeated Gary MacLaren in the June 5 primary election and defeated Dan Metully (D) and Rob McCoy (L) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[5][6]
