A Galien Township Fire Levy Renewal measure was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of Galien, which is in Berrien County.

This measure sought to increase the current general operations levy by a rate of $1 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further five years in order to further pay for general operational costs in the township.[2]

The question on the ballot:

Shall Galien Township impose an increase of up to 1.00 mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution, and levy it for 5 years, being the years 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017, for general township operating purposes, which 1 mill increase will raise an estimated $42,643.00 in the first year the millage is levied.[3]
