Text of measure

Language on the ballot:

In support of continued operation of the Galien Township Library, shall the limitation on the total amount of taxes which may be assessed against the taxable valuation of all property in the Township of Galien liable for taxation, including that land lying in the Village of Galien, be set at one mill ($1.00 per each $1,000 of taxable valuation, as equalized). The above said millage rate represents renewal of the permanently reduced millage of nine thousand eight hundred thirty-six ten thousandths of one mill ($.9836 cents per $1,000.00 taxable valuation, as equalized) and new millage of one hundred sixty-four ten thousandths of one mill ($.0164 cents per $1,000.00 of taxable valuation, as equalized). The authorization to levy said millage is for a period of six (6) years, being the years of 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. It is estimated that the amount of revenue to be generated from the total millage in the first year of levy (2013) will be approximately $42,643.00 of which approximately $699.00 is generated from the new (additional) millage.[1][2]
