Gary Black is the 16th and current Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture. Black, a Republican, assumed office in January 2011.[1]

Black's first term expires in January 2015. His seat is next up for election in 2014 and he is running for a second term.[2] The general election takes place November 4, 2014.

Biography

Before becoming commissioner, Black co-managed the Georgia Food Industry Partnership for 13 years. He has also served as president of the Georgia Agribusiness Council and as a field representative in the Georgia Farm Bureau.[1]

Black graduated from the University of Georgia in 1980 with a bachelor degree in agricultural education.[1]
