Gary Staples (b. January 16, 1940) is a Republican member of the Mississippi House of Representatives. He has represented the 88th District from 1988-1992 and currently since 2004.

Staples is retired. He worked for BellSouth.

Staples attended the University of Southern Mississippi and Jones Junior College. He is a member of the American Legion, Jones County Cattleman's Association, Laurel Telephone Pioneers, Mississippi Arts Fair for the Handicapped, and the Northeast Jones Future Farmers of America Alumni.[1]

Staples is running in the 2011 election for Mississippi House of Representatives District 88. He defeated Mitchell Pitts in the primary on August 2, 2011. Democratic candidate Jonathan Hodge ran unopposed in the August 2 Democratic primary. Donald Holifield is running as an Independent candidate. The general election takes place on November 8, 2011.
