Following redistricting, Stubblefield was placed in the same district as fellow Republican incumbent Jon S. Eubanks. Neither was term limited, so they were slated to face off in the May 22, 2012 primary.[1] However, in October 2011, Stubblefield announced his intention to instead run for election to State Senate District 6. He ran unopposed in the May 22 Republican primary election and defeated John Wells (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4]
