Graham ran in the 2012 election for North Carolina House of Representatives District 12. He replaced incumbent William L. Wainwright on the general election ballot after Wainwright passed away on July 17, 2012. He defeated Jim Dancy (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1]
