Gerald Long (b. July 9, 1944) is a Republican member of the Louisiana State Senate, representing District 31.

Education

Long earned his BS from Northwestern State University in 1966.

Professional experience

Long was an Agent for State Farm Insurance from 1979 to 1999. He then worked as a Minister for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes from 1999 to 2007.

Political experience

Long joined the Louisiana State Senate in 2008. He has served in that position since, representing the 31st district.

Long and his wife, Rose, have three children.

2007

In 2007 Long was elected to the Louisiana State Senate District 31. Long (R) finished with 20,609 votes while his opponent Thomas Townsend (D) finished with 17,699 votes.[1] Long raised $210,109 for his campaign fund.[2]
