Gilbert Kahele is a Democratic member of the Hawaii State Senate, representing District 1. He was first appointed to the chamber in 2011. He was initially appointed by Governor Neil Abercrombie to replace Sen. Russell Kokubun.[1] Kahele has served as Senate Majority Whip since 2013.
