Crescent Engineering Group LLC $1,559

Minority judges

In 2012, Jackson will re-introduce a proposal in which he will resume his efforts to increase the number of minority judges in Louisiana's 24th Judicial District. His hopes to implement his plan through House Bill 523 were dashed when time ran out as the session ended on June 23. [4]

Currently, out of the 16 judges on the court, two are African-American, and are elected from a subdistrict in which minorities comprise the majority of voters. Jackson has proposed that a third judge be elected from that same subdistrict, or the next subdistrict that sees a vacancy after January 1, 2012. [4]
