Glenn McConnell (b. December 11, 1947) has been a Republican member of the South Carolina Senate since 1980, representing the 41st district.
Education
McConnel earned his BS from the College of Charleston in 1969. He went on to receive his JD from the University of South Carolina Law School in 1972.
Professional experience
McConnell was the Staff Attorney for Neighborhood Legal Assistance Program, Incorporated, from 1972 to 1975. He then worked as a Labor Relations Specialist for the United States Charleston Naval Shipyard from 1975 to 1976. He has worked as an attorney for the following law offices: Riesen Law Firm and McConnell, Attorney At Law, from 1976 to 1985, Tillman and McConnell, Attorneys at Law, from 1985 to 1987, and Glenn McConnell, Attorney at Law, from 1987 to 1997. He then worked as President of CSA Galleries Incorporated from 1990 to 2004. He is currently Co-Owner of The Wild House LTD.
Political experience
McConnell served as Chair for County Republican Party from 1978 to 1982. He was a delegate at the Republican National Convention in 1980, 1984, and 1988. He joined the South Carolina State Senate in 1980. He has served in the senate since then, representing the 41st district. He was the President Pro Tempore in the senate in 2001 and in the present.
