Rep. Hintz discussing politics |
Hintz has worked as a research assistant for Governor's Commission on State and Local Partnerships for the 21st Century, analyst for the Long Beach Budget Bureau, and municipal consultant for Public Administration Associates Limited Liability Company. He has been a legislative assistant to Representative Jay Johnson and Senator Herb Kohl.
Hintz is the chair of the 6th Congressional District Democratic Party and member of Leadership Oshkosh, Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce, Oshkosh Diversity Council, Oshkosh Downtown Rotary, Oshkosh Rotary Club, and the Winnebago County Democratic Party.[1]
Issue positions
On his campaign site Hintz lists his positions on a number of issues, including:[2]
- Property tax protection - I was a member of a bi-partisan group of legislators, who hope to pass a bill, known as the Newark Bill, which closes a property tax loophole that had the potential to cause a massive property tax shift to individual and commercial taxpayers of up to $2 billion. Closing this loophole was a MAJOR priority of mine and I was proud to co-sponsor this important piece of legislation."
- Education - "I have joined colleagues on a resolution that would require the legislature to address the K-12 education funding formula by the next state budget. For too long we have been pitting students against property tax payers. It is time to find a viable solution to make sure kids get the education they deserve."
- Ethics and campaign reform - "Democrats and Republicans in the legislature worked together with the Governor to create an effective, non-partisan Government Accountabilty Board. The board is responsible for advising state government on ethics and election matters, reviewing, streamlining and enforcing current ethics and election and investigating possible ethics violations. I supported this legislation."
Hintz did not provide answers to the 2008 Political Courage Test. The test provides voters with how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected.[3]
