Gravenstein Union School District parcel tax, Measure A, 2009
From Ballotpedia
A Gravenstein Union School District parcel tax, Measure A ballot question was on the March 3, 2009 ballot in Sonoma County, California for voters in the Gravenstein Union School District. The measure was defeated.[1]To pass, it needed the approval of 67% of the district's voters, but only received 61%. [1]
Measure A, if it had passed, would have imposed a parcel tax of $36.00 for eight years starting July 1, 2009.
The ballot language said, "To continue to provide our students with courses in the arts and music, as well as technology instruction, all essential for student growth and development, shall the Gravenstein Union School District be authorized to levy a qualified special tax of $36 per year on each parcel of taxable real property in the District for no more than eight years, commencing July 1, 2009, after the expiration of the existing parcel tax, with annual audits and an exemption for seniors?""
Measure I defeated June 2008
On June 3, 2008, voters in the district defeated a similar parcel tax increase measure, Gravenstein Union School District Measure I (June 2008). Measure I asked for a tax increase of $45/parcel, slightly more than the $36/parcel request in 2009's Measure A.
