Vander Linden is a retired U.S. Marine who retired at the rank of Brigadier General. During his tenure, he served as a helicopter pilot for President Ronald Reagan, commanded a helicopter squadron in the first Gulf War as well as the naval aviation depot in Cherry Point, NC. After retiring from the Marines, he worked as vice president of Agusta Westland, Inc., an Anglo-Italian helicopter company, and for the defense division of auto maker Rolls-Royce. Vander Linden holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa and a master's from the University of Southern California. Guy Vander Linden is a Republican member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing the 75th District since January 10, 2011.

Vander Linden is a retired U.S. Marine who retired at the rank of Brigadier General.
