Harriette L. Chandler (b. December 20, 1937) is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts State Senate, representing the First Worcester district. She was first elected to the chamber in 2000.

Chandler served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1995 to 2001. She was also vice chair on the Worcester School Committee and a member of the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee and Worcester Democratic City Committee.

Biography

Chandler earned her bachelor's degree from Wellesley College in 1959, her Ph.D. from Clark University in 1973, and her M.B.A. from Simmon Graduate School of Management in 1983. She also earned her honorary doctorate in Public Administration from Worcester State College in 1988. Her professional experience includes working as a management consultant.[1]

Chandler has served on a number of caucuses and non-legislative committees, including the Central Massachusetts Caucus, the City Task Force on Crisis Management, the Massachusetts Legislature's Tobacco Control Caucus, the Mayor's Advisory Committee, At-Risk Youth, and the Worcester Economic Development Council.

Chandler won re-election in the 2012 election for Massachusetts State Senate First Worcester District. Chandler was unopposed in the September 6 Democratic primary and was unopposed in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]

Chandler won re-election to the First Worcester District Seat in 2010. She had no primary opposition. William Higgins, Sr ran for the seat on the Republican ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.
