Chandler has professional experience as a management consultant.
Chandler earned her Bachelors degree from Wellesley College in 1959, her PhD from Clark University in 1973, and her MBA from Simmon Graduate School of Management in 1983. She also earned her Honorary Doctorate in Public Administration from Worcester State College in 1988.
Harriette Chandler is currently involved in a number of organizations, including the Dynamic Advisory Committee, United Way, Central Massachusetts, Worcester Academy, and the Worcester Women's History Project.
Harriette Chandler currently serves on a number of non-legislative committees, including the Central Massachusetts Caucus, the City Task Force on Crisis Management, the Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs, the Massachusetts Legislature's Tobacco Control Caucus, the Mayor's Advisory Committee, At-Risk Youth, the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, and the Worcester Economic Development Council.
Harriette Chandler currently serves on a number of legislative committees, including the Federal Stimulus Oversight Committee, the Public Health Committee, the Veterans and Federal Affairs Committee, and the Ways and Means Committee.
Chandler won re-election to the First Worcester District Seat in 2010. She had no primary opposition. William Higgins, Sr ran for the seat on the Republican ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.
