Heath Mello (b. August 2, 1979) is a member of the Nebraska Unicameral representing District 5 since 2009. In the 2013-2014 session, Mello is a nonvoting member ex officio of the Executive Board.

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Mello is a graduate of Graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (B.A. in political science), 2002. Prior to his election to the Nebraska Legislature, Senator Mello worked as the senior aide to United States Senator Ben Nelson. [1]

Mello has professional experience as a coordinator for the Metro Community College Foundation.

Mello is currently involved with a number of organizations, including Knights of Columbus, Q Merchants Association, Saint Thomas More Parish, South Omaha Business Association, South Omaha Development Project, and the South Omaha Optimists.

Mello won re-election in the 2012 election for Nebraska State Senate District 5. Mello was unopposed in the May 15 primary election and was unopposed in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]

2008

On November 4, 2008, Mello won election to the 5th District Seat in the Nebraska Senate, defeating Rebecca Barrientos-Patlan.[4]
