Biography
McTeer earned a Bachelor's in Sociology from Spelman College in Atlanta and she received a Juris Doctorate from Tulane Law School. She was a member of McTeer & Associates Law firm. In 2003, McTeer was elected mayor of Greenville, Mississippi. She was re-elected again in 2007. McTeer is the first African-American and first female to serve as mayor of Greenville.[2]

2012
McTeer ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Mississippi's 2nd District. She was defeated by incumbent Bennie Thompson in the March 13, 2012 primary.[3]
