Worthy's professional experience includes working as a police officer in Detroit and Advertising Project Director for the Chamber of Commerce. He served in the United States Army.[2]

Elections for the office of Michigan State Senate will take place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, and a general election will take place on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 22, 2014. Incumbent Virgil Smith defeated Rashida Tlaib and Howard Worthy in the Democratic primary. Keith Franklin was unopposed in the Republican primary.[3][1][4]
