Howie Morales is a Democratic member of the New Mexico Senate. Morales was Grant County Clerk from 2005 to 2008. He joined the New Mexico State Senate in 2008. He has served in that position since, representing the 28th district.

Morales was a Transition Coordinator/Head Baseball Coach at Cobre Consolidated School District from 2001 to 2005. He has been an Instructor at Western New Mexico University since 2005.

Morales earned his BS from Western New Mexico University. He went on to receive his MA in Bilingual Special Education in 1998. He then earned his PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from New Mexico State University.

On November 4, 2008, Morales was elected to the 28th District Seat in the New Mexico Senate, besting Joseph Gros (R). [3] Morales raised $57,175 for his campaign, while Gros raised $15,293. [4]
